Kids First Volunteers

Image result for kids inclusion clipart

Kids First is an exciting student program that helps students develop respect and understanding for kids with a variety of abilities. On December 4th, we'll set up stations in 3rd grade classrooms for students to try out activities that simulate the experience of ADHD, Dyslexia, hearing impairment, visual impairment, Autism, mobility impairment, and speech impairment.

We need volunteers to help small groups of students through these activities. There will be a teacher, PTA lead, and LISD lead in each classroom, so volunteers won't be on their own. We'll also meet up with volunteers (on your schedule) before the big day to run through the activity, so everyone will know what to expect beforehand.

After seeing this program in other LISD schools, this is our first year bringing it to Parkside! Please consider volunteering to bring this valuable student experience to our Parkside kids.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Soup for the Soul

Let's show our Parkside teachers how thankful we are for them! We're hosting a soup luncheon for our awesome staff on Wednesday, November 28th, and we need food donations and volunteers to help.

Food donations are needed in the community room by 10 am (non-perishables may be dropped off in advance, if you prefer.) If you're bringing a crockpot of soup, please be sure to label your crockpot and soup ladle with your name. Since we do have some staff members with dietary restrictions, please label your soup so they know what it is (and if it is gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, or contains nuts/coconut/tomatoes, please add that to your label.)

Thank you for making this a great day for our teachers!

Visual Arts Volunteer

We need a volunteer to help our Kindergarten students through their Visual Arts rotations. You are welcome to stay for first graders after, but it is not required. The Kindergartners are the ones who need the most help. This is a weekly commitment throughout the school year, so whichever weekday you choose will be your day to volunteer each week, 12:40 - 1:35 pm. Thank you for helping our youngest students enjoy all the fun of Visual Arts!
